The Study of Programming Language Learning by Applying Flipped Classroom
In this paper, a teaching model combined with ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction) model into flipped classroom is proposed to improve the learning achievement of learners. The main features of this teaching model are: using ARCS theory to design related learning content, to enhance learners learning motivation and achievement; in the flipped classroom, the learners first understand the learning goal, follow the learning steps to learn, and finally complete the learning objectives. The C# programming language is used as the learning objective of this study, and 103 students from 2 classes of college freshman in Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology are recruited as the study participant. In the experiment, the students are divided into a control group receiving traditional learning and an experimental group that employs the flipped classroom learning. To assess the proposed system, the learning achievement is assessed by using the t-test for pre-test and post-test. The experiment shows that the system can indeed promote the learning outcome for the learners.
