O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine. The main textual, typical features and innovative methods practiced in the process of its compilation are considered, namely: a professional translation of the titles of eight hundred and twenty editions from German into Ukrainian was prepared, illustrative appendices to the scientific and auxiliary bibliographic index were developed. Theoretical principles of bibliographic identification, selection and further bibliographic processing of documents are outlined. The directions of elaboration of rare editions from the collection «Editions of the XVII – early XX centuries. in foreign languages» of the fund of the V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific Pedagogical Library of Ukraine during 2005–2018. German-language pedagogical publications of the second half of the XIX century are presented. – early XX century. through the prism of bibliographic reconstruction of pedagogical sources. It is established that the most constructive for this genre of publication, taking into account the subject of research, is the systematization of selected publications by type and composition and according to the nature of information.
