Currently, the development of quality management of higher education is facing new challenges, the key of which is to ensure competitiveness and attractiveness for potential students, employers and research customers. In the context of the «struggle» for financing, it is necessary to find internal reserves for development, which is the main result of reducing losses. The application of lean manufacturing methods in education is possible taking into account the adaptation of tools and their consistent implementation, taking into account scientific and practical experience. Activities to optimize the educational process should be carried out taking into account the views of interested parties, such as: teachers, students and employers. The article discusses the application of the principles of lean method and 5S in higher education.
