Yet, numerous diseases can present with generalized pain in older adults. Careful anamnesis and a detailed physical examination are essential to rule out mimicking conditions. Treatment of fibromyalgia in elderly requires particular attention, as well. Older individuals are prone to experiencing adverse effects of certain drugs due to age-related alterations in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
