[Dental conditions in a group of north Italian children (aged 8-9)].
With the purpose of analyzing the influence of background factors such as socio-economic matters, educational and behavior on the dental status, an epidemiological study was carried out in the town of Verona, Italy. Hundred and hundred 8-9 years old children were examined and the dental-status described in detail. On the basis of an interview, information on parents' education, occupation and the children dental and dietary habits were obtained. It could be concluded that the dental health was highly related to the socio-economic level, to the level of mothers' education, the frequency of dental visits and the dietary habits. It is suggested that the differences could be reduced through the establishment of a systematic prophylactic program making school personal and local private dentists.
