Hydrochemical characteristics and water table quality assessment for irrigation on Ouargla Basin
The water quality used for irrigation must be of a certain chemical concentration. The water quality used for agriculture can affects crops and soils, if it has Hight salinity. To assess the water quality, water of phreatic aquifer was sampled and analysed. The result obtained showed; for the hydrochemistry, the water type was classified as Na-SO4, Mg-SO4 and Na-Cl with high salinity. In terms of usage in irrigation, water samples distributed in two categories; C4-S2 and C4-S3. based on FAO guidelines, the first category includes five samples, this water is not suitable for irrigation under normal conditions. But it can be used if the species have a very good tolerance to salinity and soil particularly well drained. The eight samples remaining, four of them are classified in class C4-S3, and the other four were outside classification, this water is not suitable for irrigation.
