The process emphasizes part safety classification, procurement specification, and warehouse description standardization, of a limited population of the most frequently procured parts (stocked replacement items for safety-related systems, structures, and components). Logical grouping of over 10000 stock items resulted in consolidation to 275 automated procurement specifications maintained through a PC-based computer application.
