Architects need to understand their designs in terms of quality attributes. Software quality assurance (SQA) consists of a means of monitoring the software engineering processes and methods used to ensure quality. The methods by which this is accomplished are varied and may include ensuring conformance to one or more standards. Both manual and automated testing offer benefits and disadvantages. In manual testing (as the name suggests), test cases are executed manually (by a human, that is) without any support from tools or scripts.
