Factors of the Emergence of Collective Actions of Russian Healthcare Workers During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges not only for the general population but also for healthcare workers in Russia. In this study, we conducted an analysis of the factors influencing the emergence and success of mobilization among healthcare workers in a specific region. Through an examination of media publications from March 2020 to February 2021, we gathered information on 464 collective actions that garnered public attention. The analysis reveals that the socio-economic characteristics of the region, as well as the burden of the epidemic on medical personnel, were influential factors in the emergence of public campaigns. Furthermore, the success of these collective actions was found to be correlated with the dynamics of the real income of the local population. This study represents the first comprehensive analysis of collective actions among healthcare workers in Russia during the pandemic, providing valuable insights for developing recommendations on supporting healthcare professionals during epidemic situations.
