Hence this study sought to examine pre-service science education teachers’ awareness of STEM education and attitude towards it. The research adopted the descriptive survey of the correlation type, and 400 pre-service teachers were randomly selected for the study. The questionnaire was distributed to 400 pre-service teachers in three colleges of education in Oyo State, Nigeria with 310 duly filled and returned. Mean, Multiple Regression and t-tests were used for data analysis. Findings revealed that pre-service teachers in the colleges of education have a high level of awareness level of STEM education, they also found that the pre-service teachers had favourable attitudes toward STEM education for national development. The study, therefore, recommended among others that the schools where teachers are trained for the future should restructure their curriculum to incorporate STEM education that informs the trainee teachers of the significant roles, they can play in achieving national development through STEM and most importantly promote its knowledge in their classroom. 摘要

今天个人对国家发展的态度和行为将决定我们对未来的准备程度以及未来环境将如何对我们作出反应。因此,本研究旨在考察职前科学教育教师对STEM教育的认知和态度。本研究采用相关型描述性调查,随机抽取400名职前教师进行研究。问卷已分发给尼日利亚奥约州三所教育学院的400名职前教师,其中310名已填妥并归还。数据分析采用均值、多元回归和t检验。调查结果显示,教育学院职前教师对STEM教育的认知水平较高,他们还发现职前教师对国家发展的STEM教育持赞成态度。因此,该研究建议,接受未来教师培训的学校应调整课程,将STEM教育纳入其中,让实习教师了解他们在通过STEM实现国家发展方面可以发挥的重要作用,最重要的是在课堂上推广STEM知识。关键词:职前科学教师,STEM教育,态度,国家发展DOI: 10.7176/JEP/14-29-05出版日期:2023年10月31日
