First record of the pebble crab, Liagore rubromaculata (De Haan, 1835) (Decapoda, Brachyura, Xanthidae) from the west coast of India
A single male specimen of the pebble crab, Liagore rubromaculata (De Haan, 1835) measuring 40.0 × 27.0 mm (CW × CL) was observed and is recorded for the first time from the west coast of India. The species was identified by the presence of a smooth and unarmed anterolateral margin. Globally, the species has been reported from the waters of Australia, South China, Indonesia, the Persian Gulf, and the Bay of Bengal, but no report is available from the Arabian Sea. Hence the present study bestows the first confirmed record of L. rubromaculata from the Arabian Sea along the west coast of India, provided with a detailed taxonomic description of the species.
