The most frequent form of dementia in older individuals is Alzheimer's disease (AD), a progressive neurological ailment that\ngradually deprives people of their memory, cognitive abilities, and, ultimately, their ability to perform daily tasks. Alzheimer's disease is\ndistinguished by a progressive deterioration in cognitive function, which includes a decline in memory, learning capacity, and thinking power. The\nhuman body's endocannabinoid system functions as a channel for cell communication. It is a neurotransmission system that is present in various\nregions of the body and tissues as well as assists in the control of a number of metabolic processes. Endocannabinoids, enzymes, and cannabinoid\nreceptors all play a role in managing a variety of biological functions. In this review, we aimed to summarize the endocannabinoid system, the\neffect of beta-amyloid, tau-protein accumulation and neuroinflammation, potential therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids, current pre-clinical and\nclinical evidence for the potential therapeutic benefits, limitations, and challenges, and potential future research in the field.
