Perfil de prescrições e sociodemográfico de médicos na atenção primária de um município do Seridó Potiguar
Drug-related safety incidents are a public health issue. Prescription and sociodemographic profile of doctors was surveyed in primary care in Caicó-RN through an observational study, carried out from July to September 2022, via the application of a form to doctors working in primary health units. The majority of participants base their prescription on evidence from scientific literature/REMUME/clinical experience (76.47% each). On the other hand, a significant portion writes the prescription (23.52%) based on pharmaceutical marketing, considering it the main source of updating (23.52%). Analysis of the content of their speeches found REMUME updating (28.60%) and communication about medicines available in stock (17.90%) as the most prominent categories in the speeches. Strategies to expand access to essential medicines in this context, as well as training of these prescribers on aspects of effectiveness and safety of prescription are required, along with access to medicines.
