Comparative Analysis of Parameters of Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Cold Strip Rolling Based on Computer Simulation
Abstract
Computer modeling of the processes of symmetrical and asymmetrical cold strip rolling was carried out using the DEFORM finite element analysis computing environment. Rolling was used as asymmetric schemes: with different peripheral speeds of the rolls; with different roll diameters; with different diameters and peripheral speeds of the rolls. The influence of each of the schemes on the position of the neutral line, the change in stress intensity along the thickness of the strip in the place of the smallest gap between the rolls were assessed, as well as the final position of the traced points, which in the undeformed strip were on the same vertical line. The rolling for the second stand of mill 1700 of Severstal PJSC was simulated.

Steel in Translation is a journal that represents a selection of translated articles from two Russian metallurgical journals: Stal’ and Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii. Chernaya Metallurgiya . Steel in Translation covers new developments in blast furnaces, steelmaking, rolled products, tubes, and metal manufacturing as well as unconventional methods of metallurgy and conservation of resources. Papers in materials science and relevant commercial applications make up a considerable portion of the journal’s contents. There is an emphasis on metal quality and cost effectiveness of metal production and treatment.
