Though the most common site of infection is gastrointestinal tract, it can cause extraintestinal infections like skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, biliary tract infections and bacteremia. Its ability to acquire antibiotic resistance naturally from the environment and due to the inappropriate use of antibiotics makes treatment of this unusual pathogen difficult. Many studies have shown high morbidity and mortality rates associated with .
