Microstrip patch antennas have emerged as a leading design in modern communication methods due to their small size, low cost, and ease of manufacturing. Over the past 40 years, numerous studies have been conducted on antenna systems, and this review article provides a comprehensive overview of the earlier and more recent achievements in microstrip patch antennas in the 60 GHz band, which is a crucial frequency range for fifth-generation (5G) technologies.
