SEIRS overcomes the limitations of the conventional infrared spectroscopy and has emerged as a potential technique with high surface sensitivity by enhancing the signals by many folds and also facilitates new studies from the fundamental aspect to applied sciences. The current review is dedicated to a comprehension of the SEIRS technique to provide a critical overview of its application as sensing probe for analysis of chemical species.
