Abstract Self-assembled hyaluronic acid (HA) microspheres are utilized for memorable optical humidity sensing. Because of the extremely high hygroscopic property of HA, the microsphere deforms in a highly humid atmosphere and the shape change is irreversible, thereby memorizing the history of the humidity change.
