However, current treatment outcomes are limited, as they only provide symptomatic relief without preventing disease progression. The gut microbiota is a group of microorganisms that inhabit the human intestinal tract and play a crucial role in maintaining host energy balance, metabolism, and immune activity. Patients with diabetic nephropathy exhibit altered gut microbiota, suggesting its potential involvement in the onset and progression of the disease. However, how a perturbed microbiota induces and promotes diabetic nephropathy remains unelucidated.
