Alliteration, assonance, and consonance are employed to augment the melodic quality and cadence of the poetry. The use of repeated start and ending consonants in the poem enhances its lyrical nature, resulting in an interesting and memorable reading experience. The phonological aspects in Collins' writing enhance the auditory quality of the poem and also contribute to its informal and approachable nature.
