The catalysts were characterized by N<sub>2</sub> physisorption, SEM–EDX, XRD, H<sub>2</sub>-TPR and XPS. The activity of the catalysts was evaluated in a fixed-bed micro-reactor at atmospheric pressure and 40 bar at different reaction temperatures, and H<sub>2</sub>/CO<sub>2</sub> ratio of 3:1. The results showed that the nature of the promoter influenced the physicochemical properties of the catalysts as well as the catalytic activity and product selectivity.
