Contemporary psychology has witnessed a significant expansion in its scope, reflecting the diverse phenomena of 21st-century human existence. From mental health to environmental issues and the intricacies of global organisational dynamics, psychologists have developed concepts and frameworks, as well as research and application models, aimed at enhancing humanity's well-being. However, amidst these notable advancements, the discipline faces a myriad of challenges. These include the enduring dominance of Western academic scientific psychology, a global state of poly-crisis that includes the recent pandemic, navigating the rapid pace of technological advancement and the implications, geopolitical conflicts and war, in addition to increasing inequality.

This panel seeks to stimulate critical discourse on the current state of psychology and chart pathways toward a more inclusive and relevant global discipline that serves humanity. The panel's overall aims are twofold: to advocate for a discipline that mirrors the rich diversity of our global community and to ensure its readiness to confront the complex challenges it faces. Through open dialogue to foster collaboration, the panel seeks to chart a course for psychology that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries, fostering inclusivity and innovation for the betterment of humanity.

The distinguished representatives from the International Union of Psychological Science's Regional Membership will contribute insights grounded in the unique contexts of their respective regions of the world.

Chair: Saths Cooper, IUPsyS Past President

期刊介绍: The International Journal of Psychology (IJP) is the journal of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) and is published under the auspices of the Union. IJP seeks to support the IUPsyS in fostering the development of international psychological science. It aims to strengthen the dialog within psychology around the world and to facilitate communication among different areas of psychology and among psychologists from different cultural backgrounds. IJP is the outlet for empirical basic and applied studies and for reviews that either (a) incorporate perspectives from different areas or domains within psychology or across different disciplines, (b) test the culture-dependent validity of psychological theories, or (c) integrate literature from different regions in the world.
