While CMV inhibitors of apoptosis and necroptosis have been known and studied for years, the first pyroptosis inhibitor has been identified and characterized only recently. Here, we describe how human and murine CMV interfere with apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis signaling pathways.
