Stoffliche Nutzung von CO2-haltigen Abgasströmen aus der Kalkindustrie und Abfallverwertungsanlagen Utilization of CO2-Containing Waste Gas Streams from the Lime Industry and Waste-to-Energy Plants

Process-related carbon dioxide emissions in lime production and in the thermal utilization of fossil and biogenic residues are unavoidable. The application as carbon-based feedstock by hydrogenation as a building block for basic chemicals such as methanol can contribute to the defossilization of the industry and the reduction of climate-impacting emissions. Applying the example of two plants from the lime industry and thermal waste utilization in combination with utility and performance numbers derived from the process owners, a techno-economic and life cycle analysis is employed to demonstrate the boundary conditions under which this can be implemented in an ecologically and economically profitable manner in industrial practice.
