In this review we discuss the role of the L-type calcium channel CaV1.3 (calcium voltage-gated channel subunit alpha1 D) in different types of cancers, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for certain cancer types. The development of selective blockers of the CaV1.3 channel has been of great interest and is expected to be a new option for the treatment of cancers such as prostate cancer and endometrial cancer.
