Among causes of death, HIV-related malignant neoplasms exhibited the highest sensitivity to particulate matter. Our findings provide novel insights into the relationship between short-term air pollution exposure and HIV-related mortality, emphasizing the increased susceptibility of this immunocompromised population. The results underscore the need for targeted public health interventions to reduce pollution exposure, particularly for the most at-risk demographic groups. Criteria air pollutants and HIV-related mortality: insights from a nationwide case-crossover investigation

Our analysis of 38,510 HIV-related deaths revealed significant associations between exposure to PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and CO and increased mortality risk.
