As we launch the NHS 10 year plan, we want to hear from NHS staff about how we can improve services

It’s an incredibly challenging time to work in the NHS, with record numbers of patients coming forward for care, increasing pressure on the services that members of the public rely on every day. At the centre of this are doctors and other healthcare professionals who are working extremely hard to give the best possible care to patients, often under difficult circumstances. People are living longer, which means more patients require increasingly complex care and treatment.1 Amid this, we know that too often clinicians find themselves unable to give patients the help that they need when they need it. As a clinician myself, I know just how frustrating this is. It is likely that many readers of The BMJ will have heard multiple times before that reform of the NHS is on the horizon.
