Subsequently, TGFB1 expression is upregulated by high levels of E6 and E7 oncoproteins, leading to an increase in TGFB1 in the tumor microenvironment, where this molecule promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), cell motility, angiogenesis, and immunosuppression.
