All patients were male with a median age of 61 years and received ECPR full flows at a mean of 47 min (range 37-59 min) from initial collapse after a median travel time to scene of 14 min (range 3-20 min). No patient met the primary outcome measure of being established on pre-hospital ECPR within 30 min of the call to the emergency services. The papers published deal with the aetiology, pathophysiology and prevention of cardiac arrest, resuscitation training, clinical resuscitation, and experimental resuscitation research, although papers relating to animal studies will be published only if they are of exceptional interest and related directly to clinical cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Papers relating to trauma are published occasionally but the majority of these concern traumatic cardiac arrest.
