[Denial of pregnancy, a challenge for clinicians].

Denial of pregnancy affects approximately 0.2% of births and corresponds to the absence or attenuation of pregnancy symptoms preventing the woman from becoming aware of her pregnancy status. Denial is said to be partial if it ends before delivery and total if it lasts until delivery. It is to be distinguished from concealment of pregnancy. Denial of pregnancy carries risks linked to lack of prenatal care. At birth, more perinatal mortality, prematurity, and growth retardation are observed. Initial data suggest a later impact on language development. Mobilization of the multidisciplinary perinatal team is necessary for the assessment and implementation of support adapted to the situation.
