Clinical signs include hematuria, epistaxis, gingival or genital mucosal bleeding, lameness, and prolonged bleeding from cut nails or wounds. Concurrent hypothyroidism exacerbates the disease. Affected dogs and carriers should not be bred or should be tested for von Willebrand's factor before breeding.
