The doxycycline effect on the activity of alkaline phosphatase in the brush border of the convoluted renal tubules in rat was examined, using the interferometric technique. On the basis of measurements taken, the antibiotic was shown to cause a statistically significant fall of the alkaline phosphatase activity and the enzyme activity was found to decrease with consecutive doses of the drug under investigation.
