[Trends in female reproductive health and health of newborns in an industrial city].

The reproductive health of women and health status of newborns is assessed for the period of 1979-1995. The incidence of diseases of pregnancy, abnormal labors, and chronic diseases concomitant with pregnancy has increased. The social structure of women has changed. The share of healthy women decreased and that of women with combined diseases during gestation, labor, and with concomitant diseases increased. The incidence of diseases in the newborns increased over the studied period. The process of newborn acceleration is over; we can now speak about relative delay of physical development.
