The study was made of the awareness of capable urban population of the Arkhangelsk region about own health condition, health care system, health promotion and disease prevention. Motivation for healthy life style appeared extremely low. Subjective opinion of personal health is a valuable information of its objective condition. That is why it must be taken into consideration in objective examination of the individual.
Sociological study of graduates from Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy was carried out in 1997. The opinions of 199 physicians on the quality of training at the Academy, on employment and continuous education, etc., are analyzed. Proposals on improving the quality of staff training from a practitioners' viewpoint are collected and classified.
Children's invalidism is a serious social, moral and financial problem in Russia. Approaches to its solving are not fully formulated now and need further study. The paper reports the results of the original trial of social and health status, life style of invalids of preschool age. The system of measures is proposed to improve rehabilitation of handicapped children.
Novel information computer system introduced at the first aid station of Novosibirsk has improved effectiveness of ambulance transport and emergency teams; quickened the process of reporting information to the head of the station and higher medical institutions as well as responding to requests; facilitated control over continuous education of the staff and planning of relevant educational programs.

A specially designed chart of medico-social examination of a handicapped child is proposed which has been used in Ufa city for examination of invalid children. This elucidated essential factors of childhood invalidity which served the basis for two programs for a city--Children's Invalidity Prevention Program and Medical and Social Care Program for Children-Invalids.
Problems of management of Ukraine health service personnel are concerned. The tables illustrate discrimination in salaries of the medical staff, the defects in labor motivation.
It is shown that valid annual planning of the activities of the State Epidemiological and Sanitary Control Service oriented on social well-being parameters helps determine the role of each specialist of the staff, the scope of the measures and their sequence, thus warranting effective work of the service.
