It was observed that the process known as enhanced biological phosphate removal is the method most used in the removal of P present in effluent. It consists in cycling biomass through aerobic and anaerobic environments and involves the incorporation of P into the cell of bacteria and subsequently the mass removal enriched with P in the slime.
