This study demonstrates that early phraseology may be preserved in late rabbinic texts, which thus problematizes the \"synoptic problem\" of rabbinic literature (and, mutatis mutandis, of the gospels). Similar wording should not blur different contents; affinities should not obscure inherent dynamics.
