She has been widely published and currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy. Her research addresses the effects of technology on couples and families as well as sexual health in couples. This interview explores the early foundations of Dr. Hertlein’s work and development as a feminist scholar. The Journal of Feminist Family Therapy provides an international forum to further explore the relationship between feminist theory and family therapy theory and practice. The journal presents thought-provoking and insightful articles of a theoretical nature, as well as articles focusing on empirical research and clinical application. The Journal of Feminist Family Therapy critiques family therapy concepts from a feminist perspective with careful attention to cultural, class, and racial differences, applies a feminist-sensitive perspective to the treatment issues particular to women such as depression, agoraphobia, eating disorders, incest, and domestic abuse, etc.
