Матющенко","doi":"10.18524/2312-6809.2019.29.180600","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"The article examines the process of upholding the national spiritual and aesthetic identity in the Ukrainian drama of the 1920s, when the ideological canon of socialist realism was formed. The author analyzes the manifestations in the framework of this pro- cess of such an ideological and stylistic phenomenon as revolutionary romanticism and a characteristic dramatic collision of feeling and duty. The author emphasizes that the most significant works of Ukrainian playwrights related to this phenomenon were marked not only by ideological concepts imposed from outside but also by their artistic overcoming. The originality of the national version of the modernism of the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries — in the 1920s, acquires new, more complicated modifications related to the unfavorable conditions of a totalitarian socio-cultural situation.But the main content of the conflict of the hero in the Ukrainian dramaturgy of 1920 — the beginning of the 1930s was the rebellion of the individual for the preservation of his freedom and uniqueness and eternal spiritual and ethical values.
