Radio Comedia, an Open-Access Podcast by Diversifying the Classics
This chronicle maps the experience of how Radio Comedia, an open-access podcast series by Diversifying the Classics, came to be. It surveys the group decisions involved in its creation, aiming to lay out Radio Comedia’s genealogy and to serve those interested in producing a cultural podcast. In the summer of 2022, we launched our first podcast featuring Lope de Vega’s Mujeres y Criados audio play. Each episode features one of the acts of the play together with interviews with theatre practitioners and scholars, interspersed with a conversation between members of the group aimed at guiding listeners. It also describes the pedagogical materials available online for teachers, students, and the general public, as well as our aim to make the podcast accessible to audiences. It closes with a reflection on how we are moving forward.
