David, Nowell Smith, ‘Parsing Time in the Lyric’, Critical Quarterly64:4 (2022) pp. 138–54. https://doi.org/10.1111/criq.12689.
In paragraph 1 of the ‘Monument’ section, the text ‘in this opposition lies two apparently contradictory models of poetic speech’ was incorrect. This should have read ‘the opposition of sensual music and intellectual monument contrasts not just models of poetic speech but attitudes towards time’.
In paragraph 5 of the ‘Turns’ section, the text ‘As the diaresis points towards the shift from the element into the ethereal, it would corroborate’ was incorrect. This should have read ‘Donne’s “expansion” would corroborate’.
In note 4 ‘the lyricscall for the citizens’ should have read ‘the lyric’s call for the citizen’.
We apologise for these errors.
Note: The original article has been updated with minor edits that do not affect the content.
期刊介绍:
Critical Quarterly is internationally renowned for it unique blend of literary criticism, cultural studies, poetry and fiction. The journal addresses the whole range of cultural forms so that discussions of, for example, cinema and television can appear alongside analyses of the accepted literary canon. It is a necessary condition of debate in these areas that it should involve as many and as varied voices as possible, and Critical Quarterly welcomes submissions from new researchers and writers as well as more established contributors.
