The Nobel Prize in Literature in the Catalan Culture
Half a Century of Debates About the Possibility of a Catalan Winner (1971-2021)
This article proposes an analysis of some of the discourses that have taken place in Catalan literature on the Nobel Prize from the end of the Franco regime to the present day. These are discourses that function as a mirror of the situation of Catalan culture during the last fifty years. They reflect two major attitudes: the desire to build a ‘normal’ Catalan culture and the humorous distancing from this ideology of normalisation.
