The research is directed towards a better understanding of how teams work and how to improve their practices. Building on the theory of expansive learning, according to which cognition is situated, socially built and culturally influenced, we propose to elucidate the learning process by making visible the challenges and actions emerging from designing. Expansive learning supports reflection-on-action by studying everyday details, which hold meaningful clues about lived experiences. The discussion brings insights regarding how expansive learning can support collaboration and the integration of team experiences in design education. To be relevant for this journal, a paper has to offer something that gives new insight into or knowledge about the design process, or assists new development of the processes of designing.
