A traves del estudio detallado de esas funciones narratologicas y del lexico y la fraseologia empleados, es posible penetrar de manera mas profunda en el arte creativo del poeta latino para desvelar como contribuye el a crear una lengua poetica en latin al mas alto nivel, al tiempo que muestra a cualquier otro creador seguros senderos para lograr lo mismo en su lengua respectiva. Abstract In Aeneid, the sea plays a very important narrative function, not only in the first books, about the Trojans’ journey from Ilion to the Italian shores, but also as an underlying element of the poem that constantly provides with metaphors and similes. It’s also well known that Virgil uses with utmost accuracy a surprisingly high number of synonyms and near-synonyms to refer to the sea and all its possible nuances. It is through a detailed study of these narratological functions and of the vocabulary and phraseology employed that it is possible to penetrate more deeply the poet’s creative art, and thus to reveal his contribution to a high level poetic language in latin. At the same time, any other creator is shown sure paths to achive the same in its own language.
