This study presents the Hungarian Society of Biomechanics and the work of Márta Kurutzné Kovács, who was the pioneer of spinal FE modelling in Hungary. She arranged the first Hungarian systematic literature review in this topic, which is still a valuable source for biomedical research engineers and clinicians. In addition, FE models from the literature are introduced as well.
