We argue, that there is a need to advance the current standards in the wake of upcoming autonomous vehicles and the ever increasing market penetration of steadily more capable driver assistance systems. In addition, we present our arguments of why we see a mandate for this already today. This paper concludes with an introduction of our first approach to tackle the problem described with a test bed to examine these systems.
