EFEKTIVITAS PERAWATAN TALI PUSAT DENGAN METODE TERBUKA DAN METODE KASA STERIL TERHADAP LAMANYA PELEPASAN TALI PUSAT DI BPM FITRI KECAMATAN LANGSA LAMA
Newborn babies are still very susceptible to infection, one of which is infection of the umbilical cord so that in providing umbilical cord care to newborns, good and effective methods must be used. Recently, modern methods of cord care have been developed, such as open techniques and sterile gauze. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of umbilical cord care with an open method and sterile gauze on the duration of cord release at BPM Fitri, Langsa Lama Regency. This research is a type of Quasi Experimental research. A total sample of 50 babies was divided into 2 groups, namely 25 babies in the experimental group with the open method and 25 babies in the control group who were given sterile gauze. The results of this study indicate that the average release of the umbilical cord in infants who are given open method of cord care is 5 days. Meanwhile, the average release of the umbilical cord in infants who were given umbilical cord care using the sterile gauze method was 7 days. The results of the Mann-Whitney test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05) so it was concluded that there were differences in cord care with the open method and the sterile gauze method for the duration of cord release. It is expected that BPM will apply the open method of cord care techniques to accelerate the release of the umbilical cord.
