The extracts were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry, the limits of detection were 0.3 or 0.9 ng kg−1 with good correlation coefficients (r 2 ≥ 0.9940) for the five fluorescent whitening agents. The intra-day and inter-day recoveries ranged between 82.6% and 112%, with a relative standard deviation of less than 12%.
