Problem-Based Learning for Teaching Biology in Adult Education
This paper presents field research where the concepts of biology associated with genetic terminology related to the frequency of alleles have been analyzed from the implementation of two types of teaching methodologies: the traditional methodology with masterclasses and the problem-based learning methodology, and both applied to a group of people with unfinished schooling aged between 20 and 60 years. Experimental and control groups were taken, and pretest and posttest tests were conducted to determine the activity's contribution. The main results show that both methodologies are significant for learning. However, problem-based learning yielded better results than the pretest.
