EnglishBy analysing the banking and financial reforms launched during the first mandate of president Francois Mitterrand, this article seeks to shed new light on the turning point marked by the year 1983. Drawing on hitherto unpublished archives, this article reveals that in terms of financial and monetary policies, the story is much more complicated than a simple political break. Highlighting a number of continuities and reversals, the author offers a new perspective on the policies implemented between the end of the 1970s and the middle of the 1980s. By focusing on the actions launched by the finance ministers Jacques Delors and Pierre Beregovoy, this shift in perspective also leads us to investigate the neoliberal nature of the politics adopted, their ideological basis and their objectives. francaisA travers l’etude des reformes bancaires et financieres menees sous le premier septennat de Francois Mitterrand, cet article entend revisiter la chronologie centree autour du tournant de mars 1983.
