Research the Thermal Sensitivity of a Fiber Optic Sensor Created with the Catastrophic Fuse
This article examines the sensitivity of the fiber-optic radiation scatterer to temperature changes. The scattering structure inside the optical fiber was obtained using the catastrophic fuse effect of the optical fiber. Due to the destruction within the core, periodic microcavities of the bullet-shaped and ellipsoidal form were formed. To study the dependence, a special device was developed and assembled to check the sensitivity of diffusers to temperature changes. During the study, a graph of the reflected radiation power amplitude dependence on temperature. Thus, the temperature at the location of the diffuser with an accuracy of up to 2.5 ° C can be determined from the reflected radiation power amplitude.
